Power: Very High 25kw Range: Very High 3960Wh Height: Tall 373mm (needs seat lift or new lid)
This is a 72v 55Ah Battery capable of peak 25kW power (360a peak discharge for 51 seconds until cut off on mosfet temp protection)
15kW continuous at 200A discharge run for 4 minutes and 16 second continuous load until cut off on mosfet temp protection.
Our premium battery just got better!!! We swapped out the brilliant Molicell P42A and upgraded to one of the most expensive cells money can buy: The class leading Samsung 50S 21700 cylindrical steel jacketed cells (no puffy cheap pouches here). These cells give almost 20% more range than the Molicell and can supply the monster amp draw our controllers require.
We then swapped out our standard 330A BMS for a special order 400A BMS. This means these batteries can now continuously supply 180 amps and burst to 400A. This new super high output power can now handle bikes with the extra powerful: Sotion, EBMX and KO motors; yet keep the std OEM Talaria motor running for huge long rides.
We then upgraded the casing from Stainless steel 304 to marine grade 316 so absolutely no rust issues here! Super tough and powder coated inside and out.
And last of all, and by no mean feat we massively improved the internal transfer of power by replacing all the connectors with pure copper sheet. This lowers resistance, reduces internal heat and make the battery even more efficient as it delivers sustained higher power to your controller.
The main battery to controller connectors we use are the same type as used by Talaria, but we use two sets to share “parallel” the power. This reduces heat, transfers load more efficintly and keeps the connectors from overheating.
Our last and most recent upgrade is to supply one direct set of discharg cables to the controller via a high capacity qs8 connector using very large 6AWG cables (this reduces internal resistance and heat build up) and a separate second set of dicharge cables using the original 8 AWG cable via Talaria to the OEM loom via circuit breaker. This means all your bike accessories are still powered. Some believe that not using the circuiet breaker direct to the cotnroler removes the safety of the circuit breaker. However all our batteries have a full working BMS. Any power shorts or irregular curent and the BMS shuts dowm, Much more sesnsive and accuarate than a mechanical breaker (You may note that the Sur Ron Ultra Bee does not use a circuit breaker and relies on the BMS alone)
The 72 55AH Talaria Battery 20S11P 72v 3960Wh Samsung 50s 21700cell. The UK retail price of these cells is over £9.99 each!! The Cells are genuine branded cells specifically designed for high output discharge and sustained high drain. Other inferior cells (pouch) used in cheaper packs simply can’t deliver like these.
Because of the extra Battery height (373MM), an aftermarket battery compartment lid will need to be fitted for Talaria bikes. Some customers have opted for the more simple method of removing the original lid and using a ratchet strap to hold in place.
For bike that do not have a display to show voltage, We include a handlebar mounted display to be located on the throttle side. Simply plug into the charge port of the battery when riding.
Fitting.
The battery uses two sets of discharge cables. One to fit the original bikes connector (for Talari we supply an adapter so it can alos fit a Sur Ron too). The second goes to an additional cable that we provide that is fixed direct to the controller. This enables the power to be fed “In Parallel” increasing the electrical flow, reducing resistance and reducing harmful heat. It shares the power delivery and takes the strain away from the original loom. Howver these must be connected in a correct order (Simple instructions supplied)
Torp do not like direct power to the controler 9our second cable), so please just do not use the additional power cable. We do not like to remove these as often buyers transfer batteries to another bike.
When connecting the battery to the bike and to avoid a spark. Turn the red trip switch on the bike to off. Connect the older original power cable and then turn the red trip to on. Then connect the new power leads. Removing battery has no special order.
Charging: First time charging is VERY important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up from the mains. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time.
Please note, Lithium batteries are considered hazardous and due care and attention should be taken. Although these cells are in wide use, and professionally manufactured in a purpose built factory; because of the power of the battery, we strongly recommend that precautions are taken. We do not recommend charging inside the family home and charging should be supervised. We take no responsibility for misuse. These batteries are thoroughly tested (full discharge and charge cycles at the manufacturing stage and also pre-delivery). These are not DIY or amateur built devices.
This will not work with the original X Controller.
* Warranty, due to the nature of use of these devices (off road) warranty is limited to 12 months from date of purchase. Any damage the result of water ingress, alteration, may void warranty. Failure comply with the correct connection procedure, may lead to damaged to the BMS and connection plugs and will not be covered by warranty. This includes shortening of cables and changing connectors. It is the owners responsibility to proof against water ingress and not use in unacceptable very wet conditions, or use direct water from hose/washers. Any alteration modification to this controller or its subsequent wiring, even cutting the power leads to make shorter will immediately invalidate any warranty. Even battery disconnected, the controller can still maintains current and can be shorted/damaged. The controllers are waterproof, but can still suffer from water damage through the connector and hence are not covered for water damage. Attempting to reprogram the controller may cause damage. Warranties are not transferable. We do not warranty second hand goods. We reserve the right to slightly modify or change this product without notice.
